Kipax Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Kipax, the indoor light planning app designed to help you map sunlight movement in your spaces to optimize furniture, plant, and activity area placement. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and handle your personal and usage data when you use our app, including all features such as room project creation, sunlight preview, furniture placement suggestions, and gallery management.

We prioritize your privacy and only collect data necessary to deliver and improve our core functionality. By using Kipax, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy, effective as of May 13, 2026.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect data that you explicitly choose to share with us, or data required for the app to operate correctly:

User-Submitted Project Data: This includes photos you take or select for your room projects, window position and direction markers you add, furniture placement tags you create, and custom preferences you save for your projects.
Optional Account Data: If you choose to create an account for cross-device sync, we will collect your email address and encrypted password only. You can use all core Kipax features without creating an account.
Automatic Usage Data: We collect anonymous app performance data including crash logs, feature interaction metrics, and device information (operating system version, device model) to help us fix bugs and optimize the app experience.

Important Note: We never access any photos stored on your device beyond the ones you explicitly select to import into Kipax. We also do not collect your real-time geolocation data, as all window orientation and sunlight calculation parameters are manually input by you.

3. How We Use Your Data

All data we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:

Deliver core Kipax functionality: calculate sunlight trajectories, generate daily light coverage previews, and provide furniture/plant placement suggestions based on your marked room parameters.
Improve our sunlight calculation algorithms and feature design based on anonymous usage patterns.
Send necessary service communications, such as app update notifications or critical security alerts. We will never send unsolicited marketing communications unless you explicitly opt in to receive them.
Sync your project data across your devices if you have enabled cloud sync functionality.

We never sell, rent, or share your personal project data, room photos, or usage preferences with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes unrelated to Kipax service delivery.

4. Data Storage & Security

By default, all your room project data, photos, and custom markers are stored locally on your device, and never leave your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync or choose to share your project with others.

If you enable cloud sync, your data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption, and stored on secure servers that are regularly audited for security compliance.

We retain your data only for as long as you maintain your Kipax account, or as required to comply with applicable legal obligations. You can delete all your data at any time directly from the app settings.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of trusted third-party service providers to support Kipax operations:

Crash reporting and performance monitoring tools to help us identify and fix app issues. These tools only collect anonymous device and performance data, and do not access any of your personal project data or photos.
Cloud hosting providers for optional sync functionality, who are bound by strict data protection agreements and cannot access your encrypted data.

All third-party providers we work with adhere to applicable privacy and security standards, and are prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to Kipax.

6. Your Rights

You maintain full control over your data when using Kipax, and can exercise the following rights at any time:

Access, export, or delete all your project data and account information directly from the app settings menu.
Revoke permissions you have granted to Kipax, including access to your camera or photo gallery, through your device settings. Note that revoking these permissions may limit some app functionality.
Opt out of anonymous usage data collection in the app settings at any time, without affecting your ability to use core features.

7. Children's Privacy

Kipax is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from individuals under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a user under 13, we will immediately delete all related data from our systems.

8. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our features or applicable legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes through an in-app notification at least 30 days before the updated policy takes effect. Your continued use of Kipax after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
